Nature Seekers is a Community Organisation established in 1990 for the conservation of the Leather-Back turtles on Matura Bay. Turtle watching tours are conducted nightly by community tour guides during the Turtle Nesting season on the protected Matura/Orosco Bay.
While the core business of Nature Seekers is the conservation of the vulnerable Leatherback Turtle, the organization, in its attempt to increase the capacities of the community and expand its conservation activities have branched into complementary eco-tourism and sustainable development activities and practices. Presently Nature Seekers’ offers an array of Nature Tours which provide not only a fulfilling experience for customers but also provide education and awareness in the area of environmental conservation. The tours offered include: -Tours to the Rio Seco WaterfallTours to the Mermaid PoolNature walk in the Matura ForestKayaking on the Salybia RiverTurtle Tours (from March to August Annually). Turtle Tagging Tours (from March to August Annually)Nature Seekers also works towards improving the livelihoods all community members. As such the organization also manages a Recycled Craft and Jewellery project. Here, community artisans work with recycled materials such as glass and coconuts, to create unique pieces of jewellery. Nature Seekers’ offerings all allow visitors, both local and international, to experience the natural and cultural beauty of Trinidad and Tobago. – AmenitiesNature Seekers is poised to provide a range of supplemental services.
